RESTORATIVE DENTISTRY

TOOTH COLORED FILLINGS

Metal fillings, known as amalgams, were once commonly used by doctors to fix teeth and cavities. The metal fillings tend to discolor surrounding teeth and contain mercury . Tooth-colored fillings are far superior and seamlessly blend into the tooth to provide a natural-looking smile. At Bensonhurst Dental Arts, our doctors only use the most advanced tooth colored filling material and techniques.

CERAMIC CROWNS:

A crown or cap is a covering that encases the entire tooth surface restoring it to its original shape and size. A crown protects and strengthens tooth structure when it cannot be restored with fillings or other types of restorations. Crowns are securely bonded to the surface of the tooth to ensure longevity and completely cover the tooth surface. Although there are several types of crowns, ceramic ones are the most popular, because they resemble your natural teeth. At Bensonhurst Dental Arts, we pride ourselves on using high quality (metal-free) zirconia crowns.

DENTAL BRIDGES

A dental bridge is a fixed (non-removable) prosthesis and is an excellent way to replace missing teeth. This type of bridge consists to two crowns, which go over at least two teeth next to the gap, that are attached to crowns in the middle filling the gap created by one or more missing teeth. The gap is replaced by a custom made natural looking porcelain crown.

DENTURES & PARTIALS

For patients who are missing several teeth or even an entire row, dentures offer a quick and affordable solution to close all the gaps at the same time. Each set of dentures is custom designed to resolve an individual patient’s unique situation and replace their missing teeth! There are two types of dentures, complete and partial dentures. Complete dentures are used when all of the teeth are missing, while partial dentures are used when some natural teeth remain. A Partial denture not only fills in the spaces created by missing teeth, it prevents other teeth from shifting. Dentures are very durable appliances and will last many years, but may have to be remade, repaired, or readjusted due to normal wear.

DENTAL IMPLANTS

Dental implants are titanium structures that are inserted into the jaw to support crowns, bridges or even entire dentures, as needed. Just one minimally invasive surgery is needed to install the implants. Once the replacement teeth have been attached, the implants themselves will be covered, and only the natural-looking porcelain teeth will be visible.
